Amazon has revealed a new player in their Kindle line-up dubbed the Kindle Fire. The Fire is Amazon’s answer to the iPad and it’s 1st generation boasts a 7″ color touch screen. While it’s called a Kindle, it will go far beyond what the standard Amazon Kindles could do! As far as content, users still have access to the same Kindle book store they are used to but also have to opportunity to subscribe to digital magazines that are displayed in full vibrant color. In addition to written content, users can also now enjoy their favorite music, TV shows, and movies on the Kindle Fire. Amazon prime members even get free streaming of 10,000 TV shows and movies on the Kindle Fire.
The Kindle Fire boasts 8 gigabytes of on-board storage but with Kindle Fire’s free cloud storage you never have to worry about losing your data or running out of space on your device because it is all backed up on Amazon’s cloud servers. The Kindle Fire’s new internet browser called Amazon Silk, lets you visit your favorite websites at very fast speeds and even supports Adobe Flash. The Fire’s app store also lets you download the apps you’ve come to expect on other platforms like Facebook or Angry Birds. With full email integration it is a snap to check and respond to emails on a variety of services including AOL, Yahoo!, Hotmail and GMail.
The Kindle Fire’s dual core processor ensures that you get to enjoy all of these new features without skipping a beat. The battery allows for up to 8 hours of continuous reading or 7.5 hours of video playback, if you have the wireless off. While previous versions of the Kindle had free 3G connectivity in addition to WiFi, the Kindle Fire only has WiFi connectivity.
